Offaly man to star in US TV series produced by Hollywood royalty

Tullamore actor Sam Keeley has landed a role on the latest TV series to be produced by Ron Howard.

The Oscar-winning ‘A Beautiful Mind’ and ‘Da Vinci Code’ director is part of the production team on ’68 Whiskey,’ a brand new military dramedy about a group of multi-cultural army medics.

Keeley will play a character with an aversion to army rules and the series is being billed as a drama/comedy with “outrageous behaviour, camaraderie and the occasional profound sense of purpose.”

The Paramount series, which is due to hit our screens in 2020, is an adaptation of the Israeli series Charlie Golf One and is set in Afghanistan.

Keeley’s star continues to rise and as well as already acting alongside Bradley Cooper and Sean Penn, the Tullamore man has also starred in Irish hits, Raw on RTE, and Netflix army drama, The Siege of Jadotville about a group of Irish peacekeepers in the Congo.

Sam is the son of Tullamore singer-songwriter Brendan Keeley.
